Artist Statement

In my paintings I exercise my need to reveal the beauty of my motifs. I generously use a vibrant palette of colors to make my chosen scene come alive. Recognizing the beauty of small, unnoticed places, and the raw, rustic charm of natural preserves, I aspire to reveal just how magnificent these places can truly look, if the time is taken to observe them.

My favorite thing about living in Southern California, which I use as subject matter in many of

my paintings, is the resemblance it has to my homeland on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. I personally endeavor to present an illustration of my surroundings in Southern California in an entirely unique way.

Through my experiences living and being trained as an artist in Europe, I have a deep love of natural scenery. Feeling that the light of natural scenery is its most attractive aspect I strive to accentuate that light in my painting technique. I love to fuse California scenery and memories of my homeland to form my own personal version of Southern Californian art.
